FAQ’S.

Do you accept insurance?

No. We do not directly bill your insurance company for the service we provide, so any charges incurred at our office are considered an out-of-pocket expense due at the end of each appointment. At SIHC we feel that your health care should not be dependent on “third party” recommendations. However, we can provide you with a receipt with diagnosis codes needed for you to submit to your insurance company. They will then reimburse you directly.

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

No. The government bases medicine upon a disease drug model. Our services are focused on wellness to help the body function better. As such, they are not considered reimbursable.

Do you take or require X-rays?

We do not take x-rays; however, we can refer you if necessary.

What is involved in a first visit?

Your first visit with Dr. Todd is a two-hour appointment that includes the consultation, exam, and first treatment. This may seem like a lot of time, but it’s very important that we invest that time at the beginning to ensure a complete picture of your current health and goals for care. Dr. Todd will complete a functional neurological exam, in depth postural analysis, and, if needed, a nutritional evaluation. It’s important to us that you feel listened to and that progress has been made right away.

Should I bring x-rays, blood work, or MRIs?

Yes! Please bring whatever data you have. The more information we have regarding your situation, the better.

What about follow-up visits?

Subsequent visits are 30 minute appointments. Because we don’t do treatment plans, what occurs during follow-up is specific to your situation. Dr. Todd will ask for a progress update and may ask further questions about your case history, dietary habits, and potential emotional stress and imbalances to address your specific needs at that time. We want to ensure that progress is being made at each appointment.

What should I wear to my appointment?

We recommend you wear comfortable clothing that can stretch or workout clothing. Muscle testing requires manipulation of the limbs, so pants or shorts are ideal; it is difficult to test muscles in a skirt or dress. Please plan accordingly on appointment days.

How long will it take for me to start feeling better?

This is a difficult question to answer because patients come to us with a variety of health concerns. However, a high percentage of patients start to feel a noticeable change in their symptoms within three visits. Dr. Todd has treated some individuals one time and their symptoms were completely eliminated. On the other hand, some people’s health issues are more complex and can take some time to correct.

How often do I need to come in?

This completely depends upon your specific case. We do not believe in the treatment plan model of seeing patients multiple times per week. Our goal is not only to correct symptoms, but ensure you are as healthy as possible. Commonly we see new patients every week or two in the very beginning stages and often see patients after that every 4-6 weeks. Being healthy and symptom free are two completely different things, so we do recommend getting evaluated every quarter as we live stressful, active lives.

Will diet and nutrition be covered during appointments?

Yes. Diet and nutrition is part of the chemical portion of the Triad of Health. Dr. Todd believes the functional biochemistry of the body is of the utmost importance; dietary changes and supplements may be recommended as the need arises.

Does Dr. Todd work with emotional stress?

Absolutely. Our emotional well-being has a direct impact on our physical health. Dr. Todd uses a variety of methods including NeuroEmotional Technique and BrainSpotting to help patients reduce the amount of emotional stress they carry.

My MD says I need surgery, can you help?

Yes. Dr. Todd has had countless people over the years who were told surgery was the only option yet were brought back to health without surgery. Many studies show people are worse off after certain surgeries and doctors will tell you that there is no absolute guarantee that the procedure will 100% fix the problem. A great deal can be accomplished with gentle methods and common sense natural healthcare. We believe natural first, then medications and surgery as the last resort.

Can I be treated after surgery?

Yes. In many cases, the area that has been surgically altered can still be adjusted. Because symptoms can be referred from other areas of the body, some headaches can come from the feet and some lower back pain comes from the TMJ. We have had many patients continue to have pain after surgery, only to have it corrected by working on another part of the body.

Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?

Absolutely. Regular chiropractic care can help relieve pain commonly associated with pregnancy and ease symptoms including nausea and vomiting that are part of morning sickness. Chiropractic care can help position the baby correctly for birth, thereby shortening labor and making the birth process easier. Adjustments are adapted to accommodate the stage of pregnancy and unique needs of each patient. Chiropractic care can also help the mother’s body heal post-partum.

What ages do you treat?

We treat humans of all ages and problems. Dr. Todd has treated babies as young as 2 days old (birth trauma is real) and adults of all ages. We occasionally will treat dogs, cats, or horses (We will come to you; please don’t bring your horse to our office.) with owner supervision, but that is not a primary focus of our practice.

Is what you do safe for children? Why would children need chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care has been used in the treatment of many common childhood ailments, such as colic, respiratory distress, fever, ADHD, and earaches. As they grow, children will often suffer injuries as a result of falling or playing sports. Regular checkups can identify problems and may help to avoid some of the health problems that are so common in adults. Chiropractic care can stabilize and reduce scoliosis, improve health, and correct poor posture in children.
Generally, it’s never too early to begin chiropractic on children. Although the adjusting techniques used on children are modified, the benefits are just as great. Since a degree of spinal trauma can happen during childbirth, when the spine and neck may be injured as the baby is pushed through the birth canal, we encourage parents to bring their newborns to be checked.

This means that with ChiroNutraceutical, routine inspections by the FDA ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) and the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs) for your safety. Unlike many nutritional companies, ChiroNutraceutical holds its own individual FDA Establishment Number.

ChiroThin formula is proprietary and uses nothing but high grade ingredients. Our unique formula has many advantages like added natural appetite suppressants, energy supplements, detoxification, lean muscle protection, and more. This carefully designed formulation optimizes the plan to the fullest. Patients frequently report to us that they feel much better and have less hunger issues while taking the ChiroThin formula than when they had tried other weight loss programs. ChiroThin drops have the highest quality and desired effects.

What is the difference between ChiroThin oral drops and Prescription injection HCG?

Prescription HCG can be very effective but must be obtained and monitored only by a licensed medical physician. This makes it very expensive as well as being against the law to possess it without a prescription. Pure HCG is administered by injection only.

ChiroNutraceutical’s ChiroThin is a blend of very specific ingredients including amino acids, vitamins, and cell salts and is designed to help your body function better. When used for improved health or as part of the doctor supervised ChiroThin Weight Loss Program, along with dietary and behavioral changes, it is safe, effective and affordable.

Is ChiroThin safe for men?

ChiroThin’s proprietary formula is safe for men. In fact, men often experience faster results and more significant results.

Will my metabolism slow down if I am on a very low calorie diet?

It is true that when dramatically, cutting back on calories and fat, our body stores fat and our metabolism slows down. This is what is referred to as “starvation mode” and occurs because the body stores the most calorie dense material, which happens to be fat. ChiroThin will help to keep the body from going into starvation mode by allowing fat to be more easily burned to make up the caloric deficit. The original 1950’s protocol called for a 500 calorie restricted food choices per day. On the ChiroThin program your food choices are greater! And your calorie intake will range from 700 – 900 calories per day depending on your daily choices. If you’re hungry then you are not eating enough!

Wouldn’t I lose the same amount of weight eating a very low calorie diet (VLCD)?

While a person will lose weight while on a VLCD without the additional nutritional support provided by the ChiroThin formula, the body will rapidly go into “starvation mode”. Starvation mode is a protective function of the human body. When an individual consumes fewer calories than they consume over a prolonged period of time, the human body will actually slow down the metabolism, start burning muscle for energy, and attempt to store any fat that is consumed. This is extremely unhealthy and will only cause a massive rebound weight gain when the VLCD is discontinued. Additionally, an individual should never attempt a VLCD without physician supervision. By using ChiroThin Weight Loss Program in combination with a specific blend and portion of low glycemic index and anti-inflammatory foods, the body will be more effective at fatty acid transportation and fatty acid metabolism.

Will I get hungry?

While it is common to feel mild hunger during the first few days, this sensation will usually stop after 4-6 days. By the end of the first week you will find your servings to be satisfying. This is because ChiroThin’s proprietary formula is specifically blended with additional ingredients to aid in blood sugar stabilization as well as natural hunger and craving suppressors. So even though you are taking in fewer calories, your body is being given the substances it needs to more easily access the energy you have stored in fat cells. Drinking 64-100 ounces of water per day will additionally act as an extra hunger suppressant and help keep your energy level high. As a “rule of thumb” the average person on ChiroThin has plenty of energy and feels good while on the program.

Will ChiroThin interfere with any medications I am currently taking? What about birth control pills or Depo-Provera injections?

The ingredients of ChiroThin have not been shown to interact with ANY medications.

What about pregnancy and taking ChiroThin?

If you are pregnant do not take ChiroThin. If you become pregnant during the ChiroThin program, stop taking ChiroThin and consult your physician.

How much weight can I expect to lose on the program?

While weight loss will vary by person, many people have and could lose between 20-35 pounds on the 42-day program. Everyone is different. It depends on many factors including how much excess weight you have, how much weight needs to be lost, and your adherence to the ChiroThin Weight Loss Program. Men typically lose between 30-45 pounds on the 42-day program.

Does the weight loss slow down after the first two weeks?

Many times there is a large amount of weight loss in the first week, then a gradual slowing of weight loss. This does not mean that your weight loss has stopped. Typically, inches are being lost continuously while on the program, and after a period of time, patients will experience another large drop on the scale. Weight loss is thus achieved in this stair-step fashion.

Is it ok to skip a meal or protein at one of my meals?

NO!!! Never skip any of your meals. It’s important to eat all of your allotted food. It is especially important that you consume the full portions of protein.

Can I exercise daily?

While on the ChiroThin program we recommend cardio and light exercise if you desire. Your doctor will adjust your food intake to accommodate your exercise. When exercising, the body burns calories. Because the body is not able to metabolize fat as fast as it is burned with exercise, you have a significantly greater chance for injury due to rapid onset fatigue. We simply ask that you give us 42 days with minimal exercise. Once you are done with the 42 days, we strongly encourage exercising.

Do I have to take vitamins while doing this diet?

You should be taking a good multivitamin to help support you nutritionally throughout the 42-day weight loss program .

Is it normal to get a headache during the first week?

Some people may experience light headaches during the first week. It is most often due to the fact that your body stores its toxins and your fat cells and when the fat cells are used for energy, the toxins are released into your body. If you experience headaches increase your water consumption.

Can I take the drops longer than 42 days if I want to keep losing weight?

Yes! However, your body will become resistant to ChiroThin and your weight loss may stop.

Can I Drink Alcohol While Taking ChiroThin?

We strongly recommend that a person not consume alcohol while on ChiroThin. You may gain weight.

Can I wear makeup?

Yes!! However, avoiding lotions, moisturizers or liquid make-ups with oil may improve the weight loss. If a body moisturizer is needed, it is recommended that you use baby oil or a non-oil lotion.

How Does a Brain Map Work?

A brain map involves scanning the brainwaves on the surface of the scalp using a nylon cap. This method is known as a Quantitative Electroencephalogram (QEEG) and provides the most accurate recording of your normal brain function. The system then compares your brainwave activity to a database of established standards of normal brain function to determine if problems are present.

What Happens During a Neurofeedback Session?

Neurofeedback sessions involve relaxing for 30 minutes while you watch a movie or listen to music of your choice. Electrodes are attached to your scalp that monitor your brainwaves during the session. When irregular patterns are detected, a response is triggered from the software that pauses or dims the video or music. Your brain senses the change and subconsciously modifies itself back into a normal pattern. With repetition of this process, eventually your brain learns to stay within healthy ranges on its own without neurofeedback.

How Long do Neurofeedback Sessions take?

Each session is 30 minutes.

How many neurofeedback sessions are needed?

The number of sessions needed will depend on the individual. Much like going to the gym, every person requires a different length of time to improve. 20 – 40 sessions is normal for many conditions to improve.

How soon will I see results from Neurofeedback?

Again, results will vary from person to person. Some feel different within a couple of sessions, while tougher conditions will take many sessions to see any noticeable results. It’s important to not get impatient and listen to the practitioner. They should be able to show you the graph results of each sessions, which will provide a visual reference of improvement.

How Long Will the Effects of Neurofeedback Last?

Long term follow ups have been done on many patients over the years. Dr. Joel Lubar at the University of Tennessee has followed ADD clients who’ve sustained their improvements from neurofeedback for 1020 years. Published research on epilepsy 12 months after brain training shows the effects on epilepsy usually holds. Owners of the Clear Mind System have commonly reported no relapses from patients after 10 years.

Is Neurofeedback new?

No. In fact, it has been around since the 1960’s. Only in the last 10 years has the technology advanced enough to come out of the university labs and into the doctor’s office. There are decades of research and case studies that document the effectiveness of neurofeedback in improving brain health.

How much research is there on Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback has been around for decades. To date there are thousands of studies, with more being published every day.
